Crafty Monday

I decided to make my own purse.  I have been looking for a yellow purse this summer and haven't been able to find anything I like.  When I stopped at Joann Fabrics, I found they had a new shipment of fabrics, and actual trendy fabrics rather than there usual stuff.  I spent twenty dollars in material and was worried when I started cutting, that I wasted my money.  I didn't have a pattern, just a purse I was trying to mimic.  It's not perfect but I like the results...

This Week I Want to Remember....

  • Opening my door and seeing my amazon package with my Smash Book package inside.
  • Going to Dave's Auction with Dan.
  • Spending time with Eleanor, and even falling down at her house.
  • Going on a Target/Starbucks date with Kennedy.
  • Visiting Ry & Jen, then going to Canton to get Clay fitted for his tux.
  • Getting the phone call from Jamie, letting me know her and Eric are facebook official.
  • Going fishing with Chris and Dan and watching their reactions as they reeled in a monster catfish.
  • Watching Clay's reaction to the patch I added to his blanket.

Entertainment of the Week

Book of the Week: 500 Salads by Susannah Blake
I've been wanting to make more salads as dinner. So I got this book from the library and completed a week of salads. Not a big hit with the kids, it usually left me making two suppers. We'll see what the scales say for me and the hubby.

Music Video of the Week: Bruno Mars-Lazy Song
The kids love this video because of the monkey's. They're still young enough to not understand some of the lyrics so I let them watch it. Probably not the best parenting choice but it is a cute video for the most part.

T.V. of the Week: Deadliest Catch and After the Catch
2 hours of Deadliest Catch for a few weeks. This season doesn't seem as good as the previous years. They've added more boats and it's almost too much. The Seabrook was a good choice but I'm really wondering why they would have even chosen the Ramblin' Rose Captain Elliot Neese. The kid is constantly reminding the camera that he is 28 and he dresses like he's Brody Jenner. It's just frustrating that they give him airtime rather than the vets.

SMASH Book from K&Company

Crafty Monday

I did a little Project Life this week, but nothing worth posting.  So today I looked into the above video, and of course, I had to have it. So if you can't find me, I'll be waiting at the mailbox for the next few days, waiting for my order:

This Week I Want to Remember.....

  • Movie night with Kristen to see Bridesmaids and then drinks afterwards.
  • Spending the day at the Columbus Zoo with Mom, the kids, Jamie, and Eric and watching the Polar Bears swim.
  • Getting the text from Dan that he got out of work early and having an unexpected date night---BW3's and the movies to see Bridesmaids again.
  • Taking Clay to the store and letting him pick out a few new cars for being potty trained.
  • Photographing a wedding with Kristen for the first time.
  • Father's Day brunch at Julie and Tom's.  Then seeing the baby raccoons at the neighbors.
  • Cookout with Ruth and Larry at my house.  And watching Larry play with the kids on the tire swing.

Entertainment of the Week

Television Show of the Week:  Parenthood-Season 1----I have always wanted to watch this show but can't commit to it on Tuesdays after watching 2 hours of "The Biggest Loser."  Since there is nothing on t.v. right now, I decided to order the first season from the library.  I'm so glad I did.  It's such a good show.  It's nice watching and not having to wait a week for the next episode as well.

Song of the Week:  Never Grow Up by Taylor Swift
No video for this song...which is surprising.

Book of the Week:  Photo Freedom by Stacy Julian---Great book but a little pricey, I think I paid about $45 for it.  She is one of the queens of scrapbooking, so I won't complain.  The book teaches you a system for keeping your pictures and albums.
Movie of the Week:  Bridesmaids
I rarely go to the movies.  This week I went twice, to the same movie.  The movie stars Kristen Wiigs, who is hilarious and then a bunch of the other SNL gals, oh and Erin from the Office.  Basically Kristen Wiigs is the Maid of Honor and her life is a big mess at the time.  She is having a hard time being happy for her friend, who is the bride.  Youtube explains the movie better so here is the trailer:

Website of the WeekBits and Pieces by Cathy Zielske

Cathy Zielske used to be a "hot shot" in Simple Scrapbooks Magazine.  but since closing the magazine, she blogs, holds classes, sells templates, and so on.  She also has 2 books out, "Clean and Simple" and "Clean and Simple 2."   I follow her blog daily, she is the queen bee in the scrapbooking world, in my opinion, so I find her blog very inspiring.

Crafty Monday

The only crafts I got to this week were bags for the kids toys.  The kids have so many figurines that they play with and I hate to see them disorganized.  So this week I made bags for the Toy Story toys and the Army Men (which kill the feet if stepped on). I got the plan for the bags from Emma Hardy's, "Sewing in No Time" book.

Entertainment of the Week

TV: Bachelorette---I must highlight the pig of the week.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsgdTsQOdUY

Book of the Week:  Sewing in No Time by Emma Hardy. Found lots of crafts for my to-do list. Drawstring bags for the kids, pillow cases, curtains, etc.

Song of the Week: Old Crow Medicine Show-Wagon Wheel. I would give the link for the video...but it was absolutley terrible. So I would suggest just listening to the song.

Website of the Week: Pinterest.com-Very addicting.
Here are a few of my favorite pins so far:

Video Game of the Week: Diner Dash-Flo on the Go. I thought I was done with this video game, but then I found that they have a bunch of versions. I'm trying to limit myself but the game is highly addicting.

Ikea-Pittsburgh

My mom and I spent the day in Pittsburgh shopping on Tuesday. Ikea is one of my favorite places. I always seem to leave happy and broke. So what did I have to have?

A new dresser. I found this in the as-is section for $119.00. Someone had bought it, put it together, then returned it. If I bought it in the other section I would have paid $179.00. So someone saved me work and money. This calls for a Charlie Sheen, "Winning!"

I also bought this for the kids playroom. An online picture because I haven't had the time to put it together yet. They sell baskets to fill the holes but I wasn't sure on how I am going to fill it yet. I'll just be happy to see the toys off the ground.

And I had to have a new bedspread, in my favorite color of course. It's a little more yellow than I like but I still love it.

Before hitting Ikea...we went to Target, where I found a discounted tablecloth. So why not make some throw pillows out of it?

I also bought a new light fixture for the kitchen. My electrician(husband) has been very busy with work, so pictures will have to come later.

Crafty Monday

After months of following other crafty bloggers online, I caved and bought myself some of the Becky Higgins Project Life kit. I just bought the album and a couple packs of the sheets, soon after realizing I should have bought the whole kit---I am addicted. This is the first year in a long time that I am current on an album. Thank you Becky Higgins for marketing your idea.
Here is a look at a bit of my Project Life:
